Lara...My children have song that we use when we first committed those exact verses PHil. 4:6 & 7...thank you for bringing that song to my heart. Anyway, oh how God has been stretching me this past year with this during our homeschooling days. I have a child who doesn't conform to easily to my dogmatic routine, but man how our merciful God is teaching me to yield to Him through this. I can grow so frustrated, and in those occassions, which have become more frequent (praise God!) that I can step out of the room, breathe and say Jesus help me here...I can walk back in the room with renewed strength and patience. God is so faithful. He loves to meet us anytime anywhere when we invite him. He is a no excuses God...and gives abundantly. I will pray a short phrase prayer like, "Lord I need you hear, because I want to freak out" and He carries me. He is so good. So good.

He has proven His power to mend my heart and mind countless times.
It seems that EVERY time I have been anxious about something...fearful of something...whatever...WHEN I push those negative emotions aside and meditate on His promises {no matter how bleak the situation may look}, He rewards me with His peace and His perspective. The key is for ME to keep trusting no matter what.
I can share a recent, specific example. My 21 year old son and my husband were having a disagreement. My son was wrong, bu I also felt my husband's punishment did not fit the crime, so to speak. I felt he was being unfair. Even after telling my husband very gently how I felt, he refused to budge from his position.
I removed myself from the situation, picked up my bible, and opened it up to the Psalms. I just started reading a handful of verses over and over and praying them back to God. Even though I could hear the situation between my husband and my son intensifying, I remembered God's past faithfulness in similar situations and I chose to stand FIRM in prayer and trust God to bring peace and reconciliation. And He did. And I have seen firsthand that when He does answer my prayers in those types of situations, He doesn't simply answer my prayer...His nature is to do "immeasurably more than I could ever ask or imagine".
Thanks for letting me share,

I know "those" days. I had one yesterday, and the day before...it's hard to get out of my head and focus on what is true! Hard to confess that I am the issue. But when I do, he's there. He's always here. He calms me. Soothes me soul and bring back the joy. Even when the to do list is still long, husband is still traveling and new puppy is still driving me crazy:) I can move forward in his grace.
Thank you for sharing your heart on here. I really enjoy your blog.
