A dear friend came over the other night after my kids went to bed. She ate ice cream out of a mug. I crunched on the salty snack she so kindly brought for me. (Yes, salty. Because I don’t love ice cream.) And as we ate our treats, we caught up on life.
Before she left I asked her if we could pray together, mainly because I had that dream on my mind. So we got on our knees. And as she prayed the thought came to me.
It’s not that we have to pray
or even need to pray (though we do).
We get to pray.
We get to fight for what is rightfully ours in Christ — joy, peace, and hope. We get to boldly come before the Creator of the universe and intercede on behalf of those we love. We get to call forth His will and believe Him for miracles. We get to pray.
If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
2 Chronicles 7:14
So today, I dare you. Call a sister-friend and go together to the throne of grace, by faith. Shake things up. Move that mountain. Send the enemy running. I’m telling you, life changes when God’s people pray.
Fill me, Lord…
Who are you going to call?
How have you been encouraged or strengthened by praying with others?
