Today marks the end of week 2 of Then Came Jesus. Only 14 days until Christmas, people. Fourteen days.
As I finished up day 5 this morning, I wished that we were sitting together over a (strong) cup of coffee so we could talk about those last two questions from page 36. But since you’re there and I’m here, I thought we could settle for discussing it in the comments. Better than nothing, right?
So tell me…
“What truths can we glean about the Father from looking at the birth and early life of Jesus?”
And/or, “which aspect of God’s character, as seen in Christ, is an aspect that you want to continually meditate upon in your current season of life?”
As I personally thought through those two questions, the truth of God that rose to the surface of my mind was His faithfulness. He faithfully fulfilled His promises in sending Jesus and He will keep on faithfully fulfilling His promises in my own little life. He faithfully shepherds me, His daughter, in the path He has for me to walk. And by His absolute grace, He isn’t going to throw up His hands and say, “You know what? I’m done with all you people.” Though He would have every right. He will faithfully complete what He has started. Until the very end.
That comforts me. Because when it looks like this world has done lost its mind, God still faithfully reigns. He is working out His plan, even in His allowances of human sin and rebellion. He remains forever faithful. He is being faithful.
I pray that this study is helping you (as it is helping me) stay focused on the main thing this Advent. The main One. Because with the pull of stuff and to-dos, I know I need all the help I can get!
I hope you have a great weekend!
Shannon McFive McConnell says
You say faithful and I say humble. During these last couple of months I have felt the Lord prompting and preparing me for a season of being humble. …which sounds funny, I know. I think it is that I have prayed for eyes to see and ears to hear, and He truly has opened my eyes to things like poverty and living simply. Jesus -GOD HIMSELF- humbled Himself as a human -and a babe at that!- then He came and was born a natural birth, in a stable, with no fanfare. Humble. If it is good enough for Jesus, it is good enough for me.
Great study, Lara! I am excited to go deeper!
