We’re on Spring break this week which basically means that all routine is out the window. Which can be good because our days have been slower. And sometimes we need slower.
It also means that my typical writing schedule hasn’t happened. Instead it’s been replaced with play dates and “Hi Ho Cherry O” and movie night and frisbee in the backyard. Happy.
And sibling fights and runny noses and persistent coughs and a shattered jar of pasta sauce in Aldi and a nephew’s throw up all over the kitchen floor. Sad.
So instead of my typical post, I’m just going to leave you with one of my recent photos and a word of hope God gave me.
I saw this old barn the other day. Abandoned. Run-down. Hopeless. And God reminded, “The more broken, the more beautifully miraculous My redemption can be. Hope in Me.”
We have a God who brings dead things to life. He turns ashes to beauty. He brings dancing from mourning. I’m reminding myself of those truths. Because as long as He reigns, there’s hope.
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.
Romans 15:13
Fill me, Lord…
What have you been up to this week?
How has God encouraged you?
Catherine Cole says
This is synchronicity. Yesterday, someone asked me what I was most thankful for. I asked God, and he answered me, “hope.” Today, I read this.

He’s faithful to speak to His children. So thankful!

Oh, how I needed the reminder of hope! I loved Lysa Terkheurst’s blog post yesterday… like her, I need more Easter. Seeing nature reawaken every spring reminds me of the resurrection power of God that lives in me! We have in us the same dynamic power that raised Jesus from the dead! Every bud, every bloom, every green thing reminds me of that. Thank you for the Romans 15 verse. That will be my prayer today.
Lara Gibson Williams says
“The resurrection power”! I love that. It’s so true. It’s so tempting to let our hearts and minds linger down here, looking at the seeming hopeless. But God. He reigns. Much love to you today, Shelby.
Melanie says
Thank you Lara for your post…I am in the midst of a situation where I feel hopeless and discouraged. Thank you for helping me turn my eyes to Jesus…He is the Resurrection and the Life!
Lara Gibson Williams says
I’m so sorry, Melanie. Hopelessness is such a heavy burden. Praying that God graciously lifts that from your shoulders as you turn your eyes onto His promises. He sees the beginning from the end. And He’s for you, not against you. Praying for many of His soul blessings on you today, sister.

Beautiful truth!
