Lara Howard

teaching women to think on true things

February 20, 2012 By Lara

I can’t believe what my man did

I tried to think of how this story could spiritually uplift us in any way, but I’m at a loss. It’s just too hilarious not to share. So with my man’s permission, this was his latest project. (And baby, he’s proud.)

My mama decided to get rid of her 36-inch tube TV for a new and improved flat screen. Well, being that our own TV was approximately 18 years old and turning green in one corner of the screen (we don’t watch much television) we decided that it might be nice to “upgrade” to my mom’s 12-year-old, bigger model.

But we had a slight problem. Her TV was about an inch and a half too wide for my entertainment center. (Notice I said “was”.)

My solution: try to sell the too-big TV at the yard sale I’m planning for the Spring. Seemed logical.

My man’s solution: cut the too-bit TV to fit. “Babe, you’ve got to be kidding,” I said half-laughing at the absurd thought, “People don’t cut TVs.”

Well…most people.

I got home late Saturday night from a women’s conference to find my man proudly sitting four feet from our “new” television which now filled nearly every square inch of that entertainment center opening. He had cut the thing to fit. Yes. Cut the TV. I mean, I knew he was resourceful. But I’m thinking this gets us into some ultimate redneck club.

OK. OK. Since I can’t leave you without at least one word of encouragement for your day, simply remember. God gifted each of us. And we need one other. We even need those who come up with crazy ideas like cutting electronics. (I love you, babe. Thanks for the “new” TV.)

Fill me, Lord…

I know you have something to say about this.

That’s FUNNY! Sounds like an off the wall idea I would come up with ( but never brave enough to actually try)!

You really MUST post a picture! Please??

I told my husband this story and he was thrilled that there are others as “cool” as us. The word “redneck” never occurred to us.
