Lara Howard

teaching women to think on true things

January 27, 2016 By Lara

it’s in the process that we’re made beautiful

Since we’re in the midst of household demolition/reconstruction, I decided to do a quick video for the blog today instead of typing. Because…painting. So. Much. Painting.

I hope this encourages you.

Process of Becoming from Lara Williams

Fill me, Lord…

How has God recently encouraged you in the messy “process of becoming”?

Oh, Lara, this touched my heart in so many ways, affirmed what God has been speaking to me over the last half a dozen years. When I was researching childbirth before my kids were born, I read somewhere that the actual pain of labor triggers hormones that help the process. This knowledge transferred itself to spiritual matters when God used the heart pain of my first miscarriage to grow a new depth of faith in my life. After the healing was the first time I saw pain as a good thing. It’s the first time I truly realized we shouldn’t wish the pain away, or try to avoid it, or numb ourselves to it; that we ought to lean into it and watch God birth good things in our lives through it. Pain, renovation mess, it’s all the same. The process through which we attain beauty. Thanks for the reminder, and another metaphor for the good and messy and painful work of redemption.
Love from a fellow work in progress 🙂

Gulp, gulp. This was just what I needed. I was just lamenting my blogging plight and future as a blogger. And as I have been doing so over the past two weeks, those evil gremlins in my head begin to speak loudly, shouting negative thoughts of ‘I should quit’, ‘Where are you going with this anyway’, ‘Who really cares what you write’ thoughts, this too confirms that God has a plan for me. His ways are higher. This encouraged me. I know I am in the process of becoming more of who He wants me to be. Even through the wait of getting to the next level. Thank you for this! I’ll be at Declare and hope to meet you! Tracy blobytracy.com
