I’m so excited to share this with you!
{Drumroll please. Drumroll. Name that Christmas movie for the win.}
I wish I could describe how precious this has been to write. It’s like I’ve been on a long walk with Jesus. And I pray it will be the same for whoever joins me this Advent.
Here’s an excerpt from the Introduction:
“It’s that time of year when we as Christians celebrate the coming of Jesus. But good grief. Does anyone else feel like you just put away last year’s Christmas paraphernalia? Well…there’s no time to belabor how old we’re getting and how quickly time flies. The season is here. And I know the pull. I know the beat ever-pulsing from culture chanting for us to buy and get…and forget Jesus. Yet this time of year can be so precious to our faith if we purposefully practice remembering.
Purposefully practice remembering.
But I have to confess my Advent track record. I’m one of those people who has really good intentions and kinda high expectationss, yet poor follow-through. I’m the one who has extensive Pinterest-inspired ideas complete with stickers and colored glitter and all the zeal a woman can muster, only to see the ideas gathering dust 5.25 days into the season. An Advent drop-out. So let’s not be like my usual self. Let’s not be the person who declares that we’re going to do 84 things to make the season more meaningful only to find that Christmas has come and gone and we forgot to remember.”
I’m honored to share this journey with you, friend. So stay tuned. It’s coming soon.

Yeah, I was just thinking I should start looking for an Advent devotion. Hopefully it is my favorite Christmas Movie, It is A Wonderful Life.

Yes, let’s really focus on the true meaning of Christmas! Our Savior’s birth and His awesome love for us! Amen??

Yes, that is so me….all kinds of intentions to make this (pick a year..any year!) the most meaningful Christmas ever only to have Christmas come & go and once again feel like I missed the boat! No drum rolls here … Unlike National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. 🙂

You named it, Tina. You win…mad props. 😉 And yes, all kinds of intentions. I totally get that. Praying that God does big things in our hearts and families this Christmas.

Is it National lampoon Christmas Vacation? I am stumped…but I can’t wait to check out the book!

Thank you! And yes. That’s the movie — not that I should be proud of this fact, but my sister and I basically have the entire movie memorized and can think of an appropriate quote for almost every life situation. :/

I’m behind the times in my comment but I wanted to let you know I’m SUPER excited for your study. Also, my wall-paper on my phone has one word in a pretty blue – REMEMBER 🙂 so I’m in love with “Perfectly Practice Remembering”. Also, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation is one of (many) favorite family movies – now, “Play Ball!” 😉 Lara – you truly are a blessing to so many!!! Thank you!
