I hear her words muffled by the bedroom door. As I get closer I realize that she is singing. She’s singing the very song that I had stumbled through that morning while we got ready for the day.
Come, thou Fount, come, thou King,
Come, thou precious Prince of peace;
Hear your bride, to you we sing.
Come, thou Fount of our blessing.~ Arranged by Gateway Worship
The torch of praise, passed to the one beside me over morning chores and daily routines. Now she was the one with a song in her heart.
And in that moment, I got it. I saw. My own worship lived out-loud lights a passionate fire of praise in those next to me. Even if it is a little off-key.
Test it out for yourself:
- Choose a song of praise.
- Sing it out-loud so those around you can hear it {at home. at work. at play.}
- Listen to see if others catch on.
Fill me, Lord…
What song are you going to sing?
What happens to your own heart when you choose to praise with a song?
{Who are your favorite worship artists? Seriously. I’m curious.}

I’m a big fan of Hillsong United (it’s my “default” Pandora channel!), but I also like Matt Redman. We also listen to a Veggie Tales channel throughout the day. I think today’s song will be God of Wonders (because I know my 3yo knows it!). Singing throughout the day makes SUCH a difference! It’s hard to be grouchy about washing dishes if you’re singing a praise song while you do it!

Love this! Passing the torch of praise. I often think of it as “preaching to my own spirit” when I willfully try to sing a song in those hard or monotonous moments of the day…but it really is catching. Nice! Recently we’ve been stuck on “He loves us” by Crowder Band (sung by Travis Cotrell’s band at the LPL conference–awesome!!!). You know what others I like π

I bet that was amazing! Love that song and love Travis Cotrell. π {just all full of love.}

Lara, this is great and I had not thought about my random singing as passing the torch. My favorite worship artist right now are Kelly Minter, Rick Pino, Kari Jobe, and of course Travis Cottrell. Thanks for sharing.

If you haven’t heard LoveLite, you NEED to look them up. Amazing stuff. Also, Jenny & Tyler – not so much worship music, but great chill Jesus-stuff. Also, Brooke Fraiser and Phil Wickham. Love you sis!!

I haven’t heard of LoveLite! Will definitely look them up. Thanks for sharing. Love you!!!

Hillsong and Hillsong United…Chris Tomlin…man…I can enter a sanctuary in my heart…where I can worship with my arm lifted high, tears falling quietly, hips rocking and feet tapping as if no one is around…just me and Him. Beautiful thing!

What a great idea!! I’m going to start applying this. Now to pick a song, there are so many!

First of all Lara, all this time following you on twitter (@CraigBelieves) β and not one time have I commented on your blog. Iβve realized that that was really rude β so first, a sorry β Iβm sorry I havenβt commented sooner β please forgive me. Second, I think it’s really precious that your hymn got repeated β it shows a mama’s love for her baby β and love for our Lord β bubbling up and spilling over β just the way it’s designed. I’ll try this with an old song by Twila Paris, Lamb of God, and if nobody else sings β at least it will keep me that much closer to God. Thank you for this today. God bless and keep you and each and every one of yours.
