I go to the Cheez-Its. You know. When I don’t really want to process the questions or fears with God.
It seems like the best choice in the moment, but eating my way to funky breath doesn’t do anything to my spirit. Only He can calm the soul. Only He can guide our steps into tomorrow.
He did it again this week. By His grace I chose to close the pantry. Put the box down, lady. I sat with Him and read His Word and asked what He thought about a particular “thing.” And He honestly ministered peace to those deep down places.
I didn’t get any writing on the wall. And it didn’t happen immediately. But He ministered. He even allowed me to have a dream that night which gave further clarity and greater soul-blessing. Who does that, but God?
It’s nothing new coming from my keyboard. But it’s real life. Stuff happens and there’s only one place to go for true healing and direction. It’s at His feet…not in the pantry.
The Lord is good to those who wait for him,
(to those who “bind to” him)
to the soul who seeks him.
Lamentations 3:25
Bless you today as you seek Him, my friend.
Fill me, Lord…
What do you do to avoid going to the only One who truly heals and guides?

I am a total emotional eater and trying to deal with that, especially with all that I have going on in my life right now! Once I began looking at in this perspective, it is a bit easier to control.. That is if I notice what I am doing mindlessly BEFORE the box of Cheez Its is gone LOL!

“Mindlessly” is right. I totally know what you mean. Hope you have a “mindful” weekend, sister.

Actually, eating isn’t the first thing that I do. Unfortunately, I have a tendency to try and “fix” whatever it is that bothering me … myself. Usually the Lord needs to give me a virtual “smack on the head”, get my attention, and draw me to his Word and to Himself. One would think that after all these years, I would have learned my lesson 🙂

Love those virtual smacks. He’s so faithful to draw us back. Hope you and Carol are doing well!

This definitely resonates with me, as I am sure it does with so many women. I wonder if there is a device that can yell, “Put down the icecream, lady” at me every time I open the freezer 🙂
