I wrote the other day about how I deeply desire to live purposefully. Not perfectly, but purposefully. And with the Christmas season coming on us so quickly, I’ve been praying about how that purposeful living will play out with the waves of the yuletide.
Stay with me…
I recently heard Phil Vischer speak. (He’s the creator of the Veggie Tales and What’s in the Bible?) And let me tell you, he’s the real deal. He testified to God’s faithful, painful breaking of his pride. And then he humbly praised God for tenderly allowing him to continue serving in his gifts after the breaking.
Why should I care about Phil and how does this relate to living purposefully this Christmas? Glad you asked.
He (and Jelly Telly productions) created an Advent book called “Everyday Emmanuel” and I was given a copy to review. I’m not typically a blog that promotes stuff, but this is a resource that I know could bless your family if you’re looking for some guidance to staying purposeful this Advent (especially for families with kids ages 2-10ish).
It has daily activity suggestions to help our families stay “others-focused.” It has video links with all the favorite What’s in the Bible? characters. It has devotions and printables and games. And it can easily be adapted to however much or little we want to do. I’m excited.
There are lots of really great options for keeping this time of year meaningful, the key is to make a plan before the 24-7 Christmas music begins.
Challenge:
Make a Christmas season family “mission statement.”
Then choose to say “yes” to activities that fall under the banner of the statement.
So click here if you’d like to check out “Everyday Emmanuel.” And for those who subscribe to my blog via email, you should notice a coupon for 50% off at the bottom. (For those who don’t yet subscribe via email, this may be a great time to change that by clicking here…it’s completely free and you’ll receive the coupon the next time I post on my blog.)
Fill me, Lord…
How do/can you stay purposeful during this busy time of year?
