I get myself into trouble when I look too far ahead. Especially if I look ahead trying to figure out the how, when, and to what extent He will answer all of my current life dilemmas. In fact, that analytical thought process usually leads to slight nausea. Which is when I have to preach truth to myself (again), “He gives grace for my today. This day.”
And I grab on tight.
His promised grace covers our today. These hours. We can’t lay hold of tomorrow’s grace or next year’s grace or the grace that will meet us when we’re eighty. Because He gives grace sufficient for our today.
His grace covering means that even if life doesn’t exactly cooperate with our plans, we can make it through. We can press to the other side of Friday. And not only press through but live victorious in heart, mind, soul, and spirit. Because of grace.
I guess that’s why Jesus told us not to worry about tomorrow (Matthew 6:34). Or as it says in the King James language, “Take therefore no thought for the morrow.” (I say that with a slight British accent.)
Why? Because of God. His grace is sufficient for our today. We don’t know what tomorrow holds. But we can trust His grace — His strength — to carry us through.
But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
2 Corinthians 12:9
He knows what He’s doing. So we seek after Him, first and continually. (Matthew 6:33) And we believe His grace to be more than enough.
Fill me, Lord…
How do you “press into” His grace for today?

Grace for today…because today is important, too! Always needing reminding of this. Sufficient – sometimes I need to find the fullness of this. It’s easier on a Saturday morning than on Friday! LOL
