Let’s take a walk through my mind. Scary, I know. There is some clutter piled in a few corners and a number of lingering effects from old bondages that I’m still unpacking — kindly step over those.
But I want to show you some of my victory thoughts. These are thoughts that I purposefully choose to meditate upon throughout my days. Thoughts about my God, my identity, and my circumstances. Thoughts about those I’m called to love. Thoughts that change how I see and affect how I respond.
So let’s walk.
I start with him, my maker and the one who loves his children beyond all human reason. He reigns on high over every single happening in this universe. Not one occurrence graces time apart from his allowance — a truth unexplainable to our finite minds. He understands every intent behind every word ever spoken. He is my God.
I begin with him because he is my reference point. I begin with him because unless I remember him rightly in the moments of my today — as he has revealed himself to be — then I will misunderstand, miscommunicate, and misrepresent. He is my God.
When life burns a bright red, I find rest as I lay down in the marriage of his sovereignty and love. “Nothing can enter my day as your daughter, unless you allow it for my ultimate good and your deserved glory. So I trust you.” Words pressed out of me. Willed by him in me. His love washing over me.
He is my God. There is no other.
He is…sovereign. love. faithful. true.
He is…working. sustaining. empowering. transforming.
Always. And forever.
Today’s thought-life challenge:
- Read Isaiah 40.
- Write down 5 truths about God from this text.
- Write down 5 more truths about God from other texts, noting the reference.
- Keep these truths close and speak them out-loud to engage in the battle for the mind.
Fill me, Lord…
What truths about God encourage you the most?

Thanks Lara…Have you read a Good and Beautiful Life by James Bryant Smith? My journey through that book (the chapter on living without Judgement) and this journey have intersected as only God could ordain. Thank you for sharing.

I haven’t read that yet. But it sounds really good. I’ll have to put it on my (ever-growing) reading list. Thanks for sharing, Julie. I really appreciate the encouragement.

Oh this is so strong, deep and useful! Thank you for your words. I just love this: . “Nothing can enter my day as your daughter, unless you allow it for my ultimate good and your deserved glory. So I trust you.” I look forward to the challenge!
